Canada Imposes New Sanctions on Illegal Israeli Settlers
Canada has announced the imposition of a new round of sanctions on four illegal settlers and two Israeli entities for their involvement in acts of harassment and violence against Palestinians. This move, enacted under the Special Economic Measures (Extremist Settler Violence) Regulations, aims to hold perpetrators accountable for attacks on humanitarian convoys, dispossession of property, and displacement of Palestinian communities.
The Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mélanie Joly, emphasized the importance of ending extremist settler violence, which undermines peace prospects and has lasting impacts on Palestinian lives. The sanctioned individuals and entities are targeted for their roles in facilitating such violence.
Canada’s stance against illegal Israeli settlements and support for a just peace based on international resolutions is reiterated through these sanctions, highlighting the ongoing violations of human rights and international law in the occupied territories.
