Honoring State Sovereignty Day: Azerbaijan Celebrates Victories and Remembers Martyrs
On September 20, Azerbaijan commemorated State Sovereignty Day with a series of events initiated by Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov. The day began with a moment of silence to honor national leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for freedom and territorial integrity.
In his congratulatory message, Minister Hasanov highlighted Armenia’s occupation policy and the atrocities committed against Azerbaijan. However, the tide turned during the 44-day Patriotic War in 2023, leading to a historic victory and the liberation of occupied lands.
The day also included visits to martyrs’ graves, where army personnel paid their respects by laying flowers. The victories achieved in the Patriotic War now symbolize Azerbaijan’s restored sovereignty, with the national flag proudly waving across the nation.
