South Sudan Police Service Graduates 800 Officers in Western Equatoria State

The South Sudan Police Service (SSPS) recently celebrated the graduation of 800 officers in the Western Equatoria State capital of Yambio. The officers underwent six months of training to enhance their knowledge and skills within the South Sudan Police.

Western Equatoria Police Commissioner Maj Gen Phillip Madut Thong emphasized the importance of the training, stating that it aimed to equip officers with the necessary expertise to operate professionally and impartially. The course served as a refresher for the officers from all 10 counties of the state.

Thong also called for support from development partners to further enhance the education and skills of police officers. However, Western Equatoria State Governor Gen Alfred Futuyo Karaba raised concerns about officers being taken to a training center and not returning or declaring their deployment.

Despite challenges faced during training, graduates like Simon Erneyo and Joice Martin Gasi expressed their commitment to upholding the law and protecting civilians. Yambio resident William Manua emphasized the importance of the police handling criminal matters and called for respect for the law.
