The upcoming ’25th ROK-US Integrated Defense Dialogue’ (KIDD) will take place in Seoul from the 23rd to the 24th of September, as announced by the Korean Ministry of National Defense on the 20th. The KIDD meetings, which began in 2011 as a result of the ROK-US Security Consultative Meeting (SCM), are held biannually. This meeting serves as a preliminary discussion for the 56th ROK-US Security Consultative Meeting scheduled later this year.
During this meeting, both countries will review the progress of key defense issues for the year and discuss follow-up measures, particularly focusing on strengthening efforts for complete denuclearization of North Korea and enhancing alliance capabilities. The ROK and US will also discuss enhancing defense readiness, shifting operational control based on conditions, and other security issues. The meeting will be attended by Cho Chang-rae, ROK Ministry of National Defense’s Policy Director, and Anka Lee, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs.
