Challenging Misrepresentations: Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry Responds to U.S. Congress
In a recent statement, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Arkham Hajizada criticized certain groups in the U.S. Congress for misrepresenting Azerbaijan and disrespecting its sovereignty. Hajizada highlighted the biased events organized by some members of Congress, accusing them of prioritizing personal gains over national security interests. The Ministry expressed concerns about a recent hearing that distorted facts about Azerbaijan, aiming to damage Azerbaijan-U.S. relations.
The Ministry defended Azerbaijan’s actions against terrorism, emphasizing compliance with international law and protection of civilian populations. It also condemned Armenia’s military aggression and occupation of Azerbaijani territories, calling for coexistence and cooperation. Additionally, the Ministry refuted claims about human rights violations in Azerbaijan, pointing out the hypocrisy of those supported by the Armenian diaspora.
The Ministry called on the U.S. Congress to prevent actions undermining bilateral relations and urged the Department of State to address issues influenced by Armenian lobby groups. Overall, Azerbaijan seeks fair representation and mutual respect in international discourse.
