A Hungarian firm, BAC Consulting, has been linked to the explosion of thousands of pagers in Lebanon, causing casualties and injuries. The firm’s involvement came to light when Gold Apollo, a Taiwanese manufacturer, revealed that the pagers were made by BAC Consulting, not by Gold Apollo.
Gold Apollo denied manufacturing the pagers and stated that BAC was responsible for the design and production. The situation escalated when it was reported that BAC was part of an Israeli front, with shell companies created to hide links to Israeli intelligence officers.
BAC Consulting claims to facilitate international technology cooperation, specializing in telecommunications products and expanding businesses into new markets. However, questions arose about the legitimacy of the company, especially when residents at its Budapest address claimed ignorance of it.
The story took a turn when Telex, a Hungarian media outlet, implicated Norta Global, a Bulgarian company, in supplying the pagers. Bulgarian authorities denied customs operations related to the pagers and are investigating Norta Global’s role in the supply chain.
Throughout the investigation, BAC Consulting’s CEO, Cristiana Barsony-Arcidiacono, has remained inaccessible for comment, adding to the mystery surrounding the firm’s activities.
