Trump Aide Admits Attacking Kamala Harris’ Parenthood Backfiring

Two Republican strategists, including an adviser to former President Donald Trump, have criticized their party’s recent attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris for not having biological children, calling the remarks “gratuitous” and “offensive.” They argue that such attacks will alienate women voters in the upcoming November elections.

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders was the latest GOP official to make disparaging comments about Harris, suggesting that having stepchildren made her less humble. This attack was made with Trump by her side at a rally in Michigan on Tuesday.

Republicans have faced backlash for their comments about Harris, including referring to her as a “childless cat lady.” Jon McHenry, a Republican pollster and strategist, warned that such rhetoric could harm the party’s chances in key areas and worsen the gender gap in voter support.

A recent poll by The New York Times/Siena College shows Harris leading among likely women voters by 14 points. Trump remains tied with Harris at 47 percent overall.

Trump campaign senior advisor Bryan Lanza also condemned Huckabee Sanders’ remarks, defending the role of stepmothers and expressing disappointment in the attack on Harris.
