Putin greenlights strategic partnership deal with Iran – Yemen Press Agency

Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved a proposal from the country’s foreign ministry to sign a strategic partnership agreement with Iran. The decree, published on Russia’s legal information system, stated that signing such an agreement would be “expedient,” although no specific timeline was provided.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani highlighted Russia’s role in making Iran a regional energy hub, with plans for Russian gas to be transported through Iran. This move strengthens the strategic relations between Moscow and Tehran and enhances their trade ties.

In June, Russian energy company Gazprom signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Iranian Gas Company to supply Russian pipeline gas to Iran, further solidifying the partnership between the two nations.

Overall, the agreement signifies a deepening of cooperation between Russia and Iran in various sectors, including energy, trade, and strategic partnerships.
