The death toll in explosions targeting communication devices in Lebanon has reached 37, with 2,931 injured, according to Lebanese Health Minister Firas Abiad. Tuesday’s attacks left 12 dead and 2,323 injured, with 226 still in hospitals. The toll from Wednesday’s explosions rose to 25 dead and 608 injured. A total of 64 hospitals are treating the injured.
In response to the violence, Lebanon prohibited airlines from carrying communication devices onboard at Beirut’s airport. The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, ongoing since October 2023, intensified with the recent attacks. Hezbollah blames Israel for the explosions, further escalating the tension.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant declared a “new phase” in the conflict, although Israel has not claimed responsibility for the attacks. The clashes have resulted in casualties on both sides, adding a dangerous new chapter to the long-standing conflict.
