Kazakhstan and Georgia Strengthen Collaboration on Trans-Caspian International Transport Route
In a recent meeting between Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili, both countries reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) – the Middle Corridor.
The Middle Corridor has seen significant growth in cargo shipments, with a 69 percent increase in the first eight months of this year alone, totaling 2.9 million tons. The goal is to raise cargo volumes along this route to 10 million tons, with efforts underway to improve transit conditions and reduce delivery times.
This strategic partnership aims to enhance transit and transport sectors, offering the shortest routes from Europe to China and Southeast Asia. The Middle Corridor connects container rail freight networks, facilitating faster cargo delivery between China, Türkiye, and European countries.
Digitalizing the transport corridor is a key focus to attract international carriers, while establishing competitive tariffs and expanding cargo volumes. The collaboration between Kazakhstan and Georgia highlights the potential for dynamic growth in trade and economic cooperation.
With improved connectivity and efficient transit systems, the Middle Corridor is set to play a pivotal role in boosting cargo traffic and enhancing trade relations between the two countries.
