In a recent statement, Karnataka Minister B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan defended the waving of the Palestine flag during a religious procession in various districts of the state. He argued that since the Central government has expressed support for a Palestinian state, there is nothing wrong with displaying the flag. However, he condemned the practice of shouting slogans in support of other countries.
The Minister also addressed the arrest of individuals allegedly connected to the banned organization Popular Front of India (PFI) in relation to recent violence in Nagamangala. He clarified that the arrested individuals, originally from Kerala, had been settled in the area for over 50 years and were considered locals.
Khan emphasized that the BJP was blowing the issue out of proportion, stating that settling in any state in India is a common practice and that the individuals in question were now considered locals. He stood by his stance that holding the Palestinian flag was not an act of treason, given the Central government’s support for Palestine.
