Israel’s military intercepted two suspicious drones approaching from Lebanon and Iraq after a deadly incident involving Hezbollah pagers exploding in Lebanon and Syria. The explosions killed at least nine, including a young girl, and wounded almost 3,000. Hezbollah and the Lebanese government pointed fingers at Israel for what seemed to be a sophisticated attack.
Israeli forces stopped a drone from Lebanon over the Mediterranean Sea, while intercepting another from Iraq using fighter jets. No injuries or damage were reported. Troops were mobilized towards the northern border with Lebanon in anticipation of potential retaliation.
The Israeli military moved the 98th division to the northern border as a precaution. The division, comprised of infantry, artillery, and commando units, was previously active in Gaza. Tensions escalated since Hezbollah attacked Israel on Oct. 8, following a Hamas-led incident in southern Israel. The ensuing conflict has claimed numerous lives and displaced many on both sides of the border.
