In exciting news for Iraq’s energy sector, Deputy Oil Minister Basim Khudair announced that Iraq is on track to start exporting gas by 2030, ensuring the country will have sufficient gas to meet its needs. Through various projects aimed at utilizing flared gas, the Ministry of Oil has made significant progress in the gas sector.
One of the key projects is the development of the Mansouriya gas field, with production expected to reach 100 million cubic feet within 18 months and eventually increase to 300 million cubic feet. This project is part of Iraq’s efforts to reduce gas flaring, which is set to completely stop by the end of 2028, according to Oil Minister Hayan Abdul-Ghani.
By increasing the utilization of associated gas, Iraq is not only reducing gas emissions but also generating electricity more efficiently.
