CM Mamata blames Centre for Bengal floods, alleges larger conspiracy

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee Blames Centre for Floods in State

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the Centre of failing to dredge the Damodar Valley Corporation dams, leading to floods in multiple districts. She holds the DVC responsible for the “man-made” floods and suspects a conspiracy behind the situation.

Banerjee, while inspecting flood conditions in Paschim Medinipur district, criticized the central government for releasing water from the DVC dams. She emphasized the need for dredging to prevent such crises in the future and vowed to initiate a movement against it.

With 5.5 lakh cusecs of water released by the DVC this year aggravating the crisis, Banerjee assured adequate relief materials for affected residents. She planned visits to flooded areas in Hooghly and Howrah to assess the situation firsthand.
