‘임종석, 평화 로비에만 관심…북한 정권과 유사’

In a recent statement, the ex-presidential office criticized former chief of staff Im Jong-seok for his ‘two-nation theory,’ equating it to alignment with North Korean regime ideals. The office highlighted the need for a continued push towards peaceful reunification based on democratic principles. This perspective contrasts with Im’s suggestion to accept two separate nations instead of pursuing reunification.

Additionally, the office criticized the previous administration’s peace and reunification discourse, citing inadequate responses to North Korean threats and ineffective lobbying for peace. The failure to properly implement defense systems like THAAD and address issues like the North-South relationship and the US alliance demonstrate the inadequacy of the peace-centric approach.

Former President Moon Jae-in’s call for a comprehensive reevaluation of peace and reunification discourse in light of North Korea’s hostile stance suggests a shift from previous strategies. The focus now appears to be on rethinking approaches to North-South relations amidst evolving regional dynamics.
