Unnamed Philippine police chief accused of assisting Alice Guo’s escape

A former Philippine police chief was found to have accepted bribes to help dismissed mayor Alice Guo escape the country amidst suspected connections with Chinese crime rings. The investigation, led by lawmaker Risa Hontiveros, revealed that intelligence reports suggested immigration and police officials were involved in facilitating Guo and her family’s flight in July.

The senior vice-president of Pagcor’s security and monitoring cluster, Raul Villanueva, disclosed that the former police chief may have been on Guo’s payroll, although this information remains unverified.

Guo, along with her siblings, fled to Indonesia via Malaysia and Singapore after a raid on a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator compound. The raid resulted in the rescue of trafficked workers and the seizure of scamming equipment, highlighting Guo’s involvement in illicit activities.
