Ukrainian Official: Russian Advance in Kursk Region Halted

Russia’s attempt to retake Ukrainian-held territory in the Kursk region has been halted, according to a spokesman from Ukraine’s military administration. Despite minor successes, Russian forces were stopped from advancing further, with Ukrainian troops maintaining control. The region has seen clashes, with thousands of Russian civilians present in the occupied areas.

Reports indicate that civilian casualties have occurred, with 23 deaths recorded since the end of August. Civilians, although restricted from leaving, are permitted to move within the region. Plans for a potential evacuation route have been discussed, pending agreement between Ukraine and Russia through international organizations.

In response, Kyiv has requested UN and Red Cross involvement in monitoring the situation in the Kursk region. Supplies, including food and water, are being provided to the affected areas from neighboring regions. Despite the challenging circumstances, efforts are being made to ensure basic necessities are met for the residents.
