Springfield Mayor Urges Trump to Stay Away

The mayor of Springfield, Ohio, has expressed hesitancy at the prospect of Donald Trump visiting the city due to the strain it would place on resources amidst ongoing bomb threats and fear among residents. Mayor Rob Rue cited Trump’s inflammatory comments about immigrants eating pets as a reason for his reluctance.

False claims by Trump and his associate JD Vance about Haitians kidnapping and consuming pets have been widely debunked, leading to increased tension in the community. Trump’s proposed visit has sparked concern among local authorities, with Ohio Governor Mike DeWine acknowledging the difficulties it would present.

Despite the challenges, DeWine stated that a visit by Trump would generally be welcomed, emphasizing the need for additional resources to ensure the safety of residents. While Vance has not confirmed any plans to visit Springfield, the situation remains tense as fake bomb threats and school closures continue to disrupt daily life in the city.
