Russian operatives have escalated their disinformation tactics in an attempt to undermine the campaign of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris. Microsoft revealed on Tuesday that conspiracy-filled videos are being spread to discredit Harris, adding to concerns about foreign interference in the upcoming election.
This alarming development follows the U.S. government’s recent accusation against Russia’s state news agency RT for attempting to sway the presidential election and subsequent sanctions imposed on its top editors.
According to Microsoft’s report, a group known as Storm-1516 with ties to the Kremlin fabricated two false videos in late August to smear Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz.
