Russia’ Military Draft Website News: Russia has launched a website for its new digital military draft system, aiming to prevent men from evading upcoming call-ups. President Vladimir Putin signed a law last year barring draftees from leaving the country once they receive electronic call-up papers. The new system considers a draft notice received once it appears on the website, making individuals responsible for checking their names on the portal.
The website testing, currently in Ryazan, Sakhalin, and Mari El, aims to combat draft dodging by replacing traditional in-person call-up paper delivery. Notably, men failing to report for service within 20 days of receiving an online summons could face driving, financial, and business restrictions.
The nationwide launch is set for November 1st, marking a major step towards a unified military draft database ordered by Putin in 2022. This move follows the partial mobilization of 300,000 reservists, revealing recruitment inefficiencies and prompting the expanded age range for military service to 18-30 in response to a Ukrainian manpower shortage.
