Pensioners’ demands remain unmet

A meeting between pensioners’ representatives in the Federation of BiH and the FBiH Government yielded some progress, although no final agreement was reached. Minister Adnan Delić highlighted ongoing issues and clarified that there would be no extraordinary pension adjustments due to current budget constraints.

However, promises were made for additional funds for spa treatment and one-time aid once the budget is rebalanced, likely by the end of October. Delić also announced plans for the formation of a pensioners’ council and allocation of funds for spa treatments in the following years.

Despite challenges, the Law on PIO/MIO will not be amended until after the October elections. A working group will be established to review the law and propose necessary changes by the end of the year.

President of the Federation of Associations of Pensioners of the FBiH, Redžo Mehić, acknowledged the difficulties faced but emphasized the need for consideration of current political and economic circumstances.

Efforts will be made to provide one-time aid to pensioners, with a focus on increasing amounts for minimum pensions based on experiences from other countries.
