Iran condemns Israel for Beirut attack, vows action
The Permanent Mission of Iran to the UN strongly condemned Israel for a deadly attack in Beirut that killed at least 11 civilians and injured thousands, including Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Mojtabi Amani. In a letter to the UN Security Council, Iran expressed its intention to take required measures under international law to respond to this “heinous crime.”
Describing the attack as a “cowardly and vicious terrorist act,” Iran criticized Israel for violating Lebanon’s sovereignty. The mission called on the UN to condemn Israel’s actions and take decisive action to stop its aggression in the region, particularly towards Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine.
The Iranian Embassy confirmed Ambassador Amani’s injuries in the explosions that took place in Beirut, resulting in a total of 26 deaths and over 3,250 injuries. Iran also held Western countries, especially the US, accountable for supporting Israel and urged the international community to act swiftly in holding Israel responsible for its actions.
These tragic events underscore the urgent need for international intervention to prevent further escalation and protect civilian lives.
