In a recent press conference in Nagpur, Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule criticized leaders from the Nehru-Gandhi family, accusing them of historically opposing reservation policies. Bawankule specifically called out former prime ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Rajiv Gandhi for their reservation stance. He also called on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to clarify his position on reservation and to avoid making “anti-India statements.”
Bawankule disapproved of recent controversial remarks made by BJP and Shiv Sena members against Rahul Gandhi, emphasizing the need for respectful discourse. He highlighted the BJP’s focus on welfare and development in Maharashtra, aiming for a “double-engine government” with both state and central support.
The BJP leader criticized the opposition for allegedly misleading tribal communities and stated that the BJP was working to integrate tribals into mainstream development initiatives. Bawankule highlighted the BJP government’s welfare schemes in tribal areas, contrasting them with the Congress era.
With the Maharashtra assembly elections approaching in November, Bawankule’s statements shed light on the BJP’s strategy and priorities for the upcoming polls.
