Armenia is tapping into the intellectual potential of its Diaspora to bolster its defense industry, according to Andranik Kocharyan, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Defense and Security Affairs. At the Global Armenian Summit, Kocharyan highlighted the underutilized expertise of Diaspora Armenians in Armenia’s economy, particularly in the military industry. Syrian-Armenian engineers and craftsmen are now playing a significant role in producing multiple-launch systems, contributing to the sector’s growth.
Armenia’s defense industry has evolved from simply repairing components to establishing engineering teams and processes for producing essential products for the armed forces. The country has also made advancements in UAV production. Kocharyan stressed the importance of continuous intellectual exchange between Armenia and the Diaspora to propel the industry further. Collaboration between both parties is crucial for achieving the industry’s growth goals.
