J&K Assembly Polls 2024

J&K Assembly Polls 2024

In a recent appeal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to vote in large numbers to elect a government committed to youth education, employment, women’s empowerment, and ending separatism. Shah emphasized the importance of a strong-willed government in creating a terror-free environment, protecting citizens’ rights, and accelerating development in the region.

The ongoing assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir mark the first time since the revocation of Article 370 in 2019. Phase 1 saw voting in 24 constituencies across seven districts amidst tight security measures. With over 23 lakh voters deciding the fate of 219 candidates, including 90 Independents, the election is a crucial step for the region.

Shah encouraged voters to cast their ballots before breakfast, exemplifying the slogan ‘Pehle matdan phir jalpan’. The subsequent phases are scheduled for September 25 and October 1, with vote counting set for October 8. The outcome of these elections is pivotal in shaping the future of Jammu and Kashmir.
