Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel al-Wazir recently met with South Korean Ambassador to Egypt Kim Yong-Hyun to discuss enhancing cooperation in industrial and transport sectors. Wazir commended the existing cooperation between the two countries and expressed eagerness to further strengthen it.
Ambassador Kim emphasized the strong ties between Egypt and South Korea and highlighted the interest of Korean government and companies in expanding collaboration, especially in manufacturing and transport. The officials reviewed joint ventures in the railway sector, including projects to modernize signaling systems and develop the underground metro in Egypt.
They also discussed an ongoing project with Hyundai Rotem to supply new trains to Egypt and a maintenance contract. Both sides agreed to increase meetings with companies like Samsung, LG, and Hyundai Rotem to explore investment opportunities and support expansion in the Egyptian market, aligning with Egypt’s national plan to localize industries.
This meeting signifies a commitment to deepening the strategic partnership between Egypt and South Korea in key sectors, paving the way for further mutually beneficial collaborations.
