Foundation urges LASG to reassess new boarding fee.

Amid the Lagos State government’s decision to increase public school boarding fees significantly, the Jeremiah and Felicia Aderoju Foundation (JFA) has raised concerns about the timing of this move. The NGO emphasized that the current economic challenges would make it difficult for many families to afford the higher fees and called on well-meaning Nigerians to support the less privileged to ensure they can continue their education.

JFA’s Director, Mr. Jacob Akintola, warned of the potential consequences if assistance was not provided, stating that students may resort to fraudulent activities or become societal miscreants. The foundation recently organized a workshop on technical training and skill acquisition for senior secondary school students in Lagos, highlighting the importance of acquiring vocational skills alongside formal education.

As part of their mission to address developmental gaps among the less privileged, JFA is committed to providing resources and support to empower Nigerian youth for a better future. The foundation advocates for integrating practical skills training into the education system to equip students with essential tools for success.

In a recorded message, the founder of JFA, Mrs. Elizabeth Olagunju, stressed the importance of serving humanity and urged education authorities to prioritize entrepreneurship education in schools. Meanwhile, speakers at the event emphasized the value of entrepreneurship and job creation over traditional employment, encouraging students to focus on problem-solving and value creation in their career pursuits.
