Bauchi Governor shuts down Wike’s threat

The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has firmly responded to the recent threat by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to create crises in states under the control of the Peoples Democratic Party. Mohammed, who is also the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, confidently stated, “Nobody can put fire in Bauchi. We have volumes of water.”

The tension escalated when Wike warned PDP governors against interference in the crisis between him and the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara. Despite the warning, the PDP Governors’ Forum had called for the cancellation of congresses in Rivers State that handed the party’s structure to Wike instead of Fubara.

During a visit by the PDP National Working Committee to Bauchi, Mohammed dismissed Wike’s threat and emphasized unity within the party. He expressed confidence in the PDP’s ability to overcome internal challenges through effective leadership.

In response to the situation, a pressure group in Osun State challenged PDP governors to take action against Wike for his behavior, urging the party leadership to maintain discipline and integrity.

It is crucial for the PDP to address internal conflicts diligently to uphold its reputation as a strong opposition party in Nigeria’s political landscape.
