800+ MO Med Pros Support Nov. Abortion Ballot Measure

Hundreds of medical professionals in Missouri are urging residents to support a ballot initiative that would protect abortion rights in the state constitution. The current abortion ban in Missouri prohibits the procedure at all stages of pregnancy, with no exceptions for rape or incest, except for cases where a person’s life is threatened. Medical professionals are hesitant to make these exceptions due to vague laws and potential penalties.

The ballot measure would overturn the current law, allowing abortion up to fetal viability (around 22-25 weeks) with limited restrictions thereafter. Over 500 doctors and 300 medical professionals signed the open letter advocating for the constitutional amendment to protect patients’ health and rights. The measure is likely to pass, as polls show majority support.

Missourians are suffering under the current abortion ban, with limited options for healthcare. Hospital attorneys advise against testing the law’s exceptions, leaving patients in dire situations. The Missouri Supreme Court has ensured the measure’s placement on the November ballot, offering hope for change.
