Turkmenistan President prioritizes environmental concerns in cooperation with Germany

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 17. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of ecology and climate in relations with Germany at the Central Asia – Germany summit in Astana. German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Central Asian leaders also attended the event, highlighting the commitment to cooperation in environmental issues.

President Berdimuhamedov praised Germany for its proactive stance on environmental matters and its support for “green” projects. He also highlighted the successful “Green Central Asia” conference in Berlin in 2020 as a crucial platform for collaborative environmental efforts.

The second Central Asia-Germany Summit in the 5+1 format continued the strategic partnership initiated in 2023. Turkmenistan, through its participation, reaffirmed its dedication to expanding multilateral cooperation and engaging in constructive discussions on the global stage.

The summit showcased Turkmenistan’s commitment to addressing environmental challenges and fostering strong relationships with Germany and other Central Asian nations to create a sustainable future.
