Attention Parents! The Lagos State Government (LASG) has announced an increase in boarding fees in its model colleges to ensure better welfare of the students. According to Mr Ganiu Lawal, Deputy Director of Public Affairs, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, the previous boarding fees of N35,000 since 2021 are no longer realistic in 2024. In response, the government has approved an upward review to N100,000 starting from the 2024/2025 session.
Lawal emphasized that the welfare of the children is a top priority for the Ministry and the government. The boarding fees cover essentials like feeding, janitorial services, and other miscellaneous costs. Although some parents may have dissenting views, Lawal explained that the increase is necessary for providing nutritious meals for the students to ensure their physical growth and mental alertness.
The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education in Lagos State is still considerate compared to other public schools across the country. The government also provides free education, technology support, security, and pays for WAEC fees for all students. Parents are urged to cooperate and understand the need for the increase in fees for the well-being of their children.
Let’s support the Lagos State Government in providing the best education and care for our children!
