Hong Kong is gearing up for its National Day celebrations on October 1 with a record-breaking display of over 185,000 flags, banners, and commemorative items spread across 5,000 locations in the city. The administration has announced a range of events, including planting 75 trees and organizing 75 city tours, to mark the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.
Chief Secretary Eric Chan Kwok-ki emphasized that these decorations and events aim to create a festive and patriotic atmosphere, as well as educate young people about the country’s development. While the government did not disclose the total cost, Chan mentioned that some events were sponsored by the commercial sector or donations, rather than taxpayer money.
