LDP candidates prioritize PM’s goals in online debate.

The contenders for the presidency of Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party have laid out their top priorities for the country’s next head of government, emphasizing regional revitalization, work-life balance, and clarifying the Self-Defense Forces’ position in the Constitution.

During an online debate, each of the nine candidates outlined a key policy for leading Japan into the future and promoting growth as the potential LDP president and prime minister.

Taro Kono, the digital minister at 61, expressed concerns about the overconcentration of people in Tokyo, particularly among students pursuing higher education who tend to flock to major city areas, exacerbating the issue.
