Israeli forces kill almost 1,000 Palestinian health workers in Gaza

Israeli forces have tragically killed 1,151 Palestinians working in Gaza’s health sector during their recent onslaught on the enclave, according to the Palestinian health ministry. The ministry detailed how 165 individuals’ personal data is still being verified due to Israeli authorities withholding victims’ bodies or their remains being buried under rubble.

The report revealed that among those killed, 165 were doctors, 260 were nurses, and hundreds more were other healthcare professionals. The health system in Gaza has been severely impacted by direct attacks on health facilities, leading to a crippling effect on the system and leaving countless victims facing imminent death.

The deliberate destruction of Gaza’s health system by the Israeli military through attacks on hospitals, doctors, and ambulances, as well as detentions and denial of medical equipment, has been condemned by international bodies. The tragic deaths of healthcare workers like Dr. Iyad Rantisi and Dr. Adnan al-Bursh reveal the brutality faced by those in Gaza’s medical sector.

With a record death toll in Gaza, especially among civilians, children, journalists, and aid workers, the conflict has drawn global attention. The high death toll among these groups emphasizes the urgent need for a resolution to the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
