French nationals advised not to travel to Venezuela
French citizens have been urged to avoid all travel to Venezuela after the arrest of several foreign nationals accused of plotting to assassinate President Nicolás Maduro. A travel advisory also warned French citizens in Venezuela to stay away from political activities and avoid making public statements due to the tense political situation.
The European Union and many countries have not recognized Maduro’s disputed victory in the elections, leading to ongoing unrest. Venezuelan authorities arrested several foreign nationals, prompting warnings from other countries like Australia against traveling to Venezuela due to instability and shortages of essential supplies.
The US State Department also highlighted the risks of traveling to Venezuela, including wrongful detentions, terrorism, and lack of emergency services for US citizens. The presence of Colombian terrorist groups in border areas adds another layer of danger for travelers.
