France will stay in global coalition vs ISIS

Paris and Baghdad are collaborating to train and equip Iraqi forces, as stated by the French Army’s spokesperson. France is sharing its security expertise with Iraq and remains committed to the global fight against ISIS. The Iraqi Defense Minister announced an agreement with the US for the phased withdrawal of coalition forces over two years.

The international coalition’s mission will be completed in two stages, with the first phase running until 2025 and the second until 2026. Despite US Defense Secretary Austin’s request for an extension, Baghdad declined, emphasizing the need to finalize the coalition’s operations by January.

In July, an Iraqi delegation led by the Defense Minister visited Washington to finalize the agreement. The coalition against ISIS, with 87 partners, was formed to combat the terrorist group in Iraq and Syria. With ongoing collaboration and support from France, Iraq continues to strengthen its security forces and fight against terrorism.
