The Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina is facing uncertainty over the announced procurement of combat drones from Turkey, as there is no official document on the matter. Deputy Minister Aleksandar Goganović expressed his lack of confirmation regarding the purchase and highlighted the absence of planned funds for acquiring the drones.
Goganović suggested that if the acquisition was made through a donation, additional funds would be needed for VAT and forwarding. He also mentioned the logistical challenges of managing combat drones and the lack of a dedicated unit within the Armed Forces for this purpose.
In addition, Goganović discussed BiH’s relationship with NATO, emphasizing the importance of cooperation while also clarifying that the country is not currently pursuing membership in the alliance. He highlighted the positive collaboration with NATO and the necessity of EUFOR’s presence in maintaining peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Furthermore, Goganović raised concerns about using the Armed Forces to transport election materials, citing potential risks to their reputation and emphasizing the need for clear answers and support from relevant institutions.
Overall, the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina is navigating various challenges and priorities, aiming to ensure effective defense operations and international cooperation.
