Delta’s D-CARE programme empowers 97K despite 75 deaths

The Delta State Government recently announced the unfortunate passing of 75 beneficiaries of the Delta COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus program, while also highlighting the empowerment of 97,365 individuals over the past three years. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori emphasized the importance of the program in building a state where every citizen feels a sense of belonging.

During the event in Asaba, the Governor launched the 4th phase of the Delta Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus Programme, D-CARES, with a focus on empowering over 97,000 beneficiaries. The program aims to provide support for small businesses, poor and vulnerable households, and communities, driving real change and development across Delta State.

The Commissioner for Economic Planning, Sunny Ekedenyen, highlighted the program’s impact on poverty alleviation and sustainable development in the state. The renaming of the program from ‘NGCARES’ to ‘Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus’ reflects its continued commitment to mitigating the socio-economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
