“Had the US not shielded one side time and again, multiple resolutions of this Council would not have been flagrantly rejected and defied.”

In a recent statement, China’s UN Ambassador Geng Shuang criticized the United States for vetoing multiple UN Security Council resolutions demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Despite international calls for peace, Israel’s military operations in Gaza have resulted in the deaths of over 41,000 Palestinian civilians.

Shuang questioned the Security Council’s inability to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, emphasizing the need for the US to use its influence to push for a ceasefire. He also highlighted the worsening humanitarian situation and violations of international law in Gaza.

Call for Action

Shuang urged the US to take tangible actions to stop the violence in Gaza and emphasized the importance of international cooperation to achieve lasting peace in the region. He condemned Israel’s targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure as a violation of international humanitarian law.

With Russia also calling for an immediate end to the bloodshed in Gaza, international pressure is mounting on Israel to adhere to UN resolutions and halt its offensive. The conflict has resulted in thousands of deaths and widespread displacement, underscoring the urgent need for a peaceful resolution.
