Central Europe is reeling from the worst flooding in over two decades, leading to rising death tolls and mass evacuations in Poland and the Czech Republic. In response, Poland declared a state of natural disaster and allocated $260 million to assist victims. Prime Minister Donald Tusk is seeking financial aid from the European Union for affected countries. The devastation is described as “unimaginable,” with towns like Ladek Zdroj resembling ghost towns due to widespread destruction.
The aftermath of the flooding is visible with debris-strewn streets, damaged cars, and mud-covered towns like Jesenik and Litovel. Residents are left in shock as they begin the difficult task of cleaning up and rebuilding their communities after the catastrophic events.
