Unidentified Assailants Raid Cattle Camp, Abduct Two Boys and 500 Cattle
An unfortunate incident occurred at a cattle camp in Greater Pibor Administrative Area’s (GPAA) Muruou County, where unidentified assailants attacked and made away with 500 cattle and two boys responsible for looking after the livestock. GPAA Information Minister Oleyo Akwer Nyalus revealed that the raiders, suspected to be from Eastern Equatoria State, were being pursued following the theft.
The Minister expressed shock at the attack, emphasizing that the villagers were caught off guard as they were enjoying a period of peace. He pleaded with Eastern Equatoria State authorities to assist in recovering the abducted boys and the stolen animals, highlighting the need for restraint and cooperation between the regions.
Unfortunately, cattle rustling has been a recurring issue between GPAA communities and their Eastern Equatoria neighbors, causing tensions and disruptions in the region. The recent incident has further exacerbated the humanitarian situation in GPAA, prompting urgent intervention and collaboration to address the ongoing challenges.
