Vlade Sladoje is running for mayor of Kalinovik and has made quite the impression by introducing himself in a Republika Srpska Army uniform. However, his controversial rhetoric and choice of clothing have raised concerns about whether the Central Election Commission (CEC) will allow him to remain a candidate. In a Facebook post, Sladoje declared a state of emergency in Kalinovik and Zagorje, vowing for a dignified victory or honorable defeat.
Despite being asked to change his campaign poster photo, which could incite hatred or intolerance, Sladoje has stood firm. His sympathies towards convicted war criminal Ratko Mladic further complicate the situation, leading to Kalinovik being referred to as “Mladicevo” on social media. The CEC of Bosnia and Herzegovina will make a decision regarding Sladoje’s candidacy following his application.
In a unique twist, three mayoral candidates in Kalinovik share the surname Sladoje, including Radomir Sladoje, Djordje Sladoje, and Vlade Sladoje. Stay tuned for updates on this intriguing election race.
