A Professor of Economics at the University of Lagos, Olufemi Saibu, emphasizes the importance of blocking all leakages in the country to enhance investor confidence and attract global investment. In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Saibu highlighted the significance of President Tinubu’s recent visit to China in solidifying collaborations between the two countries.
Saibu stressed the need for patriotism among Nigerians to build trust with foreign partners and ensure a government-to-government relationship with China. He urged citizens to prioritize national interests over personal gains for accelerated national development.
Furthermore, Saibu underscored the importance of eliminating corruption, applying equal rules to all, and addressing institutional weaknesses. He also discussed the China-Africa cooperation and the need for Nigeria to assess its external support requirements and establish a monitoring framework for effective implementation.
By rebranding the country’s image, focusing on integrity, and fostering cultural exchange, Nigeria can secure a brighter future and build stronger relationships with global partners.
