Passengers to pay up to €20 to visit Mykonos or Santorini

Exciting news for cruise passengers visiting Mykonos and Santorini next year! The government has announced an increased levy of 20 euros per person during the summer season, with reduced charges for other islands and even lower fees in the off-season.

Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni revealed that the new cruise fee will be 20 euros for Mykonos and Santorini and 5 euros for other ports from June 1 to September 30, 2025. Charges will decrease to 12 euros for the popular islands and 4 euros for others in April, May, and October. During the winter months, the fee will be 4 euros for Mykonos and Santorini and 1 euro for other destinations.

The ministry expects to generate 50 million euros in revenue from the levy, with a portion going to municipalities, port infrastructure improvements, and the Ministry of Tourism. Additionally, the government will monitor short-term rentals to ensure compliance with operating standards and safety specifications.

The climate crisis fee is also increasing, with part of the revenue being allocated for prevention and infrastructure costs. Kefalogianni noted an estimated 22 billion euros in direct tourism revenues for this year, highlighting the industry’s significant economic impact.
