Massive Defection Hits PDP as Hundreds Join APC in Ondo State Ahead of Governorship Election
With just two months to go until the governorship election in Ondo State, a major political shift has occurred as hundreds of members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Independent National Electoral Commission is set to conduct the governorship election on November 16, with campaigning already underway by all 16 participating political parties. The defectors were warmly received by the state governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, at Igbotako in Okitipupa Local Government Area, who assured them of full support and recognition within the APC.
Expressing optimism about the growth of the party in the state, Governor Aiyedatiwa encouraged the new members to participate actively and vote for the APC on election day. The leader of the defectors, Dr. Akinsola Jimoh, highlighted the decision to join the ruling party as a strategic move to support the development agenda of the state under Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership.
With the addition of the defectors, the APC in Okitipupa LGA is confident in its chances for success in the upcoming governorship election and urged all members to work together towards victory.
