In a surprising turn of events, the appointment of a new director for SIPA in BiH was removed from the agenda by the collegium of the BiH Council of Ministers. This decision came after concerns were raised about Slobodan Radinković, the proposed candidate, being allegedly associated with criminal activities. Minister of Defense Zukan Helez cited these reasons for not supporting Radinković, despite being ranked third in the selection process.
However, Minister of Security Nenad Nešić, who recommended Radinković for the position, denied the allegations and claimed that the decision was based on merit and not on any criminal connections. Nešić defended his choice by stating that Radinković’s extensive experience in the field made him a suitable candidate for the job.
The disagreement over the appointment has led to a stalemate in the Council of Ministers, with Nešić vowing not to appoint anyone at the BiH level until the matter is resolved. The future of SIPA remains uncertain as the debate continues.
