Kazakhstan and Germany to boost bilateral ties

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 16. Kazakhstan and Germany recently held discussions to strengthen their bilateral cooperation. The meeting, attended by Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, marked a historic event as it was the first visit by a German head of government to Kazakhstan in 14 years.

During their closed-door discussions, President Tokayev emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation and boosting bilateral trade between the two countries. Chancellor Scholz expressed gratitude for the hospitality and highlighted the significance of enhancing Kazakh-German relations.

The meeting covered various areas of collaboration, such as political, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian ties, as well as cooperation in energy, green transition, industry, mining, transportation, climate change, agriculture, and education.

Chancellor Scholz is set to participate in the “Central Asia-Germany” summit in Kazakhstan on September 17, following the success of the first summit in Berlin last year. The summit aims to further solidify the strategic regional partnership program between the two nations.
