In an effort to end the impasse at RG Kar hospital in West Bengal, agitating doctors have agreed to attend a meeting at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s residence. They have requested to record and sign the minutes of the meeting for transparency. The state government has accepted this condition, ensuring that both parties will sign the minutes for clarity.
The doctors expressed their willingness to attend the meeting as law-abiding citizens, emphasizing the need for official and administrative surroundings. With the recent arrest of the Tala police station OC in the RG Kar case, transparency in the meeting has become even more important to them.
To ensure transparency, the doctors have requested separate videographers from both parties to record the meeting. The Chief Secretary has assured that the minutes will be signed by all attendees and shared with both parties.
This development comes after failed attempts at dialogue due to disagreements over live-streaming. The West Bengal government has extended a fifth and final invitation to the protesting junior doctors for talks at Banerjee’s residence.
