China’s Ministry of Commerce recently released a report highlighting the United States’ repeated violations of WTO rules through unilateral sanctions and discriminatory trade measures. A global survey by CGTN revealed that 90.53 percent of respondents criticized the U.S.’ actions as a serious breach of international trading regulations.
The U.S. has disregarded WTO rulings and continued to take unilateral actions, including initiating investigations against China’s industries. The survey also showed strong disapproval (94.31 percent) of the U.S.’ disrespect for WTO rules.
Furthermore, the U.S. has rejected proposals to appoint new members to the WTO’s Appellate Body, hindering the organization’s dispute resolution process. A majority (94.12 percent) of respondents condemned the U.S.’ prioritization of its interests over the WTO’s functions.
Many respondents (95.45 percent) considered the U.S.’ selective implementation of WTO decisions as hypocritical. Additionally, the U.S.’ imposition of unilateral sanctions on numerous entities worldwide was criticized for disrupting global supply chains and abusing the concept of national security.
Overall, participants in the survey called for the U.S. to adhere to fair trade practices and contribute positively to international trade norms. The poll conducted on CGTN’s multiple platforms drew over 6,000 responses within 24 hours.
