In a recent development, Leader of Opposition R Ashoka has called for the Nagamangala communal violence case investigation to be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for a transparent probe. Ashoka highlighted the suspected involvement of banned organizations and religious fundamentalists in the riot, making it challenging for local police to crack the case.
Ashoka urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara to transfer the case to NIA, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation. He pointed out that the locals have raised concerns about Kerala-based individuals’ involvement in the riots, including the alleged procurement of masks and destruction of CCTVs.
Former deputy chief minister Dr C N Ashwatha Narayana supported the demand, stating that BJP insists on NIA taking over the case due to the suspected connections of two Kerala suspects among the arrested individuals. The move to involve NIA is seen as crucial for unveiling the truth behind the riots and ensuring a comprehensive investigation beyond the capabilities of local police.
